**Carl Johan Sonesson holds a strong lead at 86.5% in the market for the next Region Skåne board chair following the September 13, 2026 regional elections.** Moderates increased their support and the center-right bloc (including Sverigedemokraterna support) retained a larger share than the left, preventing any power shift. Sonesson, the incumbent Moderate chair since 2018 and current executive committee leader, publicly welcomed the results and signaled continued coalition talks among the Tidö-aligned parties. This positioning stems directly from the confirmed election outcome and seat distribution, which favor continuity in the existing Moderate-led arrangement with Liberal, Christian Democrat, and SD backing. Other listed figures—such as Social Democrat Henrik Fritzon (10%), Moderate Anna Jähnke (2.8%), Liberal Lisa Flinth (0.7%), and SD’s Niclas Nilsson (0.4%)—reflect potential negotiation participants or alternatives but trail due to the bloc’s retained majority. Numerous candidates priced near 50% indicate broad uncertainty around final coalition details or lesser-known contenders pending official confirmation by Region Skåne. Trader consensus prices the outcome as highly likely to favor the incumbent once post-election negotiations conclude.
