This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next mayor of Richmond as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from Richmond.Richmond’s open mayoral contest following Malcolm Brodie’s decision not to seek re-election has produced a crowded field of seven candidates on the October 17 ballot, including incumbent councillors Kash Heed and Alexa Loo, former MLA Rob Howard of the Richmond Forward slate, Mei Kang, and Dickens Cheung. Early summer polling showed Heed ahead at 20 percent amid nearly 50 percent undecided voters, but the subsequent formation of competing slates, candidate withdrawals such as Henry Yao’s, and focus on local priorities including housing, public safety, and fiscal accountability have kept support fragmented. Trader pricing reflects this dispersion, with no candidate yet consolidating a clear advantage ahead of advance voting and the final campaign stretch.
